23 Nov Daingerfield Rolls, knock out Cardinals 56-10
The Pottsboro Cardinals had a great season, no doubt about it. 11 wins, 3rd straight district championship, everything about the 2013 Cardinals was enjoyable. The Cardinals weren’t expected to make the playoffs this year, they beat all the expectations with a young squad. The Daingerfield Tigers, on the other hand, always have high expectations and they usually meet them. For the 6th straight year the Tigers will be playing in the Region Finals, and they’ve won 4 of the last 5. Daingerfield rolled over Pottsboro Friday night in Paris, raking up 537 yards total offense, scoring in almost every way imaginable and ending the Cardinals season. Pottsboro hung in early scoring on a 50 yard bomb from Hunter Mullinex to Kory Waller to pull within 14-10 with 8 minutes left in the 2nd quarter. But that was it for Pottsboro as the Tigers scored 42 unanswered points including a td pass with 0:00 left in the first half and a 99 yard deflected pass in the 3rd. It was all Daingerfield in the 2nd half as the Tigers have a rematch with District 8 rival New Boston next week for the Regional Championship. Daingerfield had to much speed, too many weapons and started 16 seniors on a team that went to the state championship game last year. Daingerfield was led by Sr running back Cordarius Anderson who totaled 161 yards on just 13 carries and scored 2 touchdowns. He got plenty of help from Keynon Whetstone who rushed for 112 yars on 4 carries and receiver Keaton key 4 grabs for 148 and a td. Pottsboro was led by Hunter Mullinex who was 11-15 passing for 103 and a touchdown, Zack Lovelady had 9 catches for 80 yards. Pottsboro finishes 11-2 with high expectations for next year. For Daingerfield it’s old hat now playing in their 6th straight Region Championship next week.
Hats off to a great season by the Pottsboro Cardinals
