17 Sep Cards Gets Back On Track 44-21 over Bonham

Pottsboro followed their senior QB Hunter Watson to victory over Bonham 44-21 on Friday night.  On the first possession of the game Watson broke lose for a 55 yard touchdown run to put Pottsboro up 7-0.   That was the first of a school record 5 rushing touchdowns on the night for Watson, he also rushed for 187 yards on 14 carries.

Credit the Cardinal offensive line, the Cardinals rushed for a season high 347 yards and after opening up a 35-8 lead late in the first half were never threatened.  The Texoma Chevy Dealer Star of the Game was awarded to senior offensive guard Landon Carrasco for the job he did opening up huge holes all night long.

The Pottsboro defense also did their job holding Bonham’s dangerous QB Tyler Rodriguez to only 57 yards rushing on 20 carries.  Pottsboro improves to 2-1 on the season while the Purple Warriors fall to 1-2.  The Cardinals head to Paris to take on North Lamar in another non-district match up, last year Pottsboro defeated the Panthers 45-28.  Listen to the game live on Mix 96.1 pregame starts at 7 pm.
